            Softball Recap: Athens Christian Eagles vs. Piedmont Academy Cougars        
        
		
        
        
            Athens Christian not only won  on Monday, but they posted their biggest win  since October 1, 2024 (when they won  11-0). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Piedmont Academy Cougars  a   9-0 shutout. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most  runs they've scored all season.

Athens Christian got a great performance from  Ellianna Christian as she  kept things locked down with   no  earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most  strikeouts  Christian has posted since back in September of 2024.
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  Alessia Fuoco, who  went 1-for-2 with two  stolen bases, one  run,  and one  RBI. That  RBI marked the first that  she has  brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of  Blair Carter, who  went 1-for-3 with two  RBI, one  run,  and one  double.
 Athens Christian  hit smart and  finished the game with only two  strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Piedmont Academy struck out eight times.
Athens Christian's first  win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Piedmont Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-7 with the  defeat, which was their fifth straight  on the road dating back to last season.
 Looking ahead, Athens Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against Tallulah Falls  at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. The Indians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 19.6  runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Piedmont Academy, they are taking a road trip to  face off against Georgia Military College  at 5:30  p.m.  on Tuesday.
