Baseball Game Preview: South Hunterdon Eagles vs. Middlesex Bluejays

South Hunterdon is 0-5 against Middlesex since April of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Eagles will square off against the Bluejays. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

South Hunterdon is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out New Egypt 2-1. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by just one run.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Middlesex). They put the hurt on Highland Park with a sharp 21-1 victory on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Bluejays, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Middlesex is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 19 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for South Hunterdon, their victory bumped their record up to 12-10-1.

South Hunterdon might still be hurting after the 8-1 loss they got from Middlesex when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
