Softball Recap: Rome Victorious

Rome gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against the Lithia Springs Lions by a score of 12-9. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Madyson Thacker made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and seven unearned) runs off one hit. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, Rome let Brooklyn Landsdell and Reese Torimoto run wild. Landsdell went 1-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Torimoto got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Torimoto a new career-high. Ta'Derrica Austin was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Rome's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Lithia Springs, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Looking ahead, Rome will venture away from home to square off against South Paulding at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lithia Springs, they will square off against Fannin County at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
