Baseball Game Preview: Quabbin Regional Panthers vs. Murdock Blue Devils

The Quabbin Regional Panthers will challenge the Murdock Blue Devils at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Quabbin Regional is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

Quabbin Regional's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over Gardner. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Not much got past Chase Talbot, who gave up just five hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Gardner off the board. Talbot has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Abe Brown and Finn Leander did most of the damage at the plate: Brown went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run, while Leander went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave Leander a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Murdock came up short against Bromfield on Wednesday, falling 20-2. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Khristian Rodriguez was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and two RBI. Derek Cruz also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Murdock's defeat dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Quabbin Regional, the victory got them back to even at 7-7-1.

Quabbin Regional got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April against Murdock by a conclusive 12-0 score. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
