Basketball Recap: Tussey Mountain Piles Up the Points Against Mount Union

Tussey Mountain won the last time they faced Mount Union and things went their way on Monday too. The Tussey Mountain Titans claimed a resounding 54-22 win over the Mount Union Trojans. The Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 20 points or more this season.

Tussey Mountain was led to victory by Adyson Weyandt and Karah Husick. Weyandt dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten steals, while Husick went 7 for 10 en route to 16 points and four steals. Husick has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Brianna Gabrielson, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 11 points.

Tussey Mountain was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mount Union only posted three assists.

Despite the loss, Mount Union still got an impressive performance from Maddie Dimoff, who went 5 for 11 en route to 13 points and five steals. That was a full 59.1% of Mount Union's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cailyn Skopic, who scored four points.

The victory made it two in a row for Tussey Mountain and bumps their season record up to 12-3. As for Mount Union, they moved to 5-8 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tussey Mountain will face off against Juniata Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Juniata Valley has won three straight at home, while Tussey Mountain won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Mount Union, they will square off against Northern Bedford County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
