Basketball Game Preview: North Hills Indians vs. Penn-Trafford Warriors

The North Hills Indians will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Penn-Trafford Warriors at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. North Hills has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with five straight defeats, while Penn-Trafford will come in with nine straight wins.

Last Thursday, North Hills didn't have quite enough to beat Butler and fell 55-53. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 341st, while the Golden Tornado are ranked 130th).

Meanwhile, Penn-Trafford humbled West Mifflin with a 62-17 victory. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 26 points or more this season.

Penn-Trafford had a senior duo take command as Lauren Marton went 6 of 9 on her way to 12 points along with six boards and four steals and Kamryn Pieper posted ten points and six rebounds. Marton has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Torrie Destefano, who put up nine points.

Penn-Trafford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

North Hills' loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Penn-Trafford, they pushed their record up to 9-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

North Hills was taken down by Penn-Trafford 50-16 when the teams last played back in February of 2022. Can North Hills avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
