Softball Recap: Palisade Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Palisade dropped to 10-6 on Saturday, ending the team's five-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Castle View Sabercats, falling 6-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Bulldogs were not able to get on the board.

Chloe Cummings spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

As for Castle View, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-10. Considering they have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

On Castle View's side, not much got past Alexa Trunnell, who gave up just a hit to keep Palisade off the board.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ashlynn Canepa, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Preslee Dunbar was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Palisade wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 10-9 victory against Niwot on the 27th. As for Castle View, they have also already played their next matchup, a 16-0 defeat against Grand Junction on the 27th.
