Basketball Game Preview: Ripon Christian Knights vs. Johansen Vikings

The Ripon Christian Knights will head out to square off against the Johansen Vikings at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.

Ripon Christian is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Liberty Ranch on Monday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Ripon Christian had to suffer through a 61-29 loss at the hands of Liberty Ranch. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 724th, while the Hawks are ranked 168th).

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Johansen beat Modesto 35-29 on Saturday.

Johansen's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Ripon Christian, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-4.

Ripon Christian didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Johansen when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 31-27 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ripon Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
