Basketball Recap: Western Christian Drops Season-High Score on Magnolia Science Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Western Christian). They claimed a resounding 59-9 victory over the Magnolia Science Academy Pirates. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-4.

Western Christian found their leader in sophomore Hannah Yamamoto, who went 9 for 13 on her way to 19 points. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for Yamamoto. Emma Webster was another key player, putting up nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Western Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 31 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in 12 consecutive games.

Western Christian's win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Magnolia Science Academy, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Western Christian will host Southlands Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 14th. Western Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Magnolia Science Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 81-14 defeat against California School for the Deaf-Riverside on the 8th.
