Softball Recap: Richmond Hill Comes Up Short

Richmond Hill lost against Wayne County back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Yellow Jackets by a score of 4-3.

A Williams was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Richmond Hill saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maggie Jenkins, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Ashella Matias also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Richmond Hill has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-9 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.33 runs. As for Wayne County, their victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-6.

As of now, neither Richmond Hill nor the Yellow Jackets have any future games scheduled.
