Football Recap: Lake Norman Charter Piles Up the Points Against Garinger

Lake Norman Charter's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to SouthLake Christian Academy on Friday. The Knights simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Garinger Wildcats 43-13. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Knights considering their seven-point performance the match before.

A big part of Lake Norman Charter's win came down to the chemistry between Dylan Wignot and his top target Dorian Morgan. Wignot threw for 250 yards and four touchdowns on only 14 passes while Morgan picked up 151 receiving yards and three TDs. Those 151 receiving yards gave Morgan a new career-high. A healthy portion of Wignot's aerial production (87 yards to be exact) also went to Eli Washington, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Lake Norman Charter didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. It was a group effort, with five picking up one apiece. Tiger Mukendi got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Lake Norman Charter's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.3 points over those games. As for Garinger, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Norman Charter will face off against North Rowan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Garinger, they will take on East Mecklenburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
