Preview: Clairton Bears vs. Springdale Dynamos
Clairton is 3-0 against Springdale since January of 2023, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Clairton Bears will look to defend their home court against the Springdale Dynamos at 6:00 p.m. Clairton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Springdale likes a good challenge.
Clairton can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent game on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Steel Valley 81-32 on the road. With Clairton ahead 45-4 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Iyanna Wade was her usual excellent self, scoring 65 points. That makes it 16 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Clairton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of J Childs, who scored 11 points.
Springdale suffered their biggest loss since December 18, 2023 on Monday. They took a serious blow against Serra Catholic, falling 66-18. While losing is never fun, Springdale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 580th, while Serra Catholic is ranked 137th).
Clairton's victory bumped their record up to 14-2. As for Springdale, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Clairton against Springdale when the teams last played on January 4th as the squad secured a 70-26 win. Does Clairton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Springdale turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
