Basketball Recap: Greater Vision Academy Takes a Loss

Greater Vision Academy had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 56-55 to the Combine Academy Varsity Goats. The Lions were not able to make up for their defeat to the Goats from their previous meeting back in January.

Despite the loss, Greater Vision Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Coyrick Cheek Jr shot 47% from the field to rack up 20 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Bradun Rogers, who posted 15 points and five steals.

Looking ahead, Greater Vision Academy will challenge Oak Ridge Military Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Combine Academy Varsity, they and Riverside Christian Academy will face off at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played.
