Basketball Recap: Faith Hayes' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Turlock Christian over River Islands

Turlock Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 48-41 to the River Islands Riptide. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Riptide earlier this season, when they won 38-34.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Faith Hayes, who went 8 of 16 on her way to 18 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. That was a full 43.9% of Turlock Christian's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Christiana Eivaz, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards.

Turlock Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for River Islands, the victory snapped their losing streak at ten games and leaves them with a 4-15 record.

Turlock Christian has already played their next game (against Ben Holt College Prep Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. River Islands is taking a road trip to square off against Franklin at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
