Basketball Recap: Burrell Comes Up Short

Burrell suffered their biggest loss since December 30, 2025 on Thursday. They were dealt a 49-21 defeat at the hands of Oakland Catholic. While losing is never fun, the Bucs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 171st, while Oakland Catholic are ranked 32nd).

Chase Coury and Kendall Coury certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Chase posted seven points, while Kendall put up six points. Chase is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games she's played.

Burrell's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-7. As for Oakland Catholic, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 17-2.

Looking ahead, Burrell will take on Winchester Thurston at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Oakland Catholic, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 52-49 win against Bishop Guilfoyle on the 7th.
