Basketball Game Preview: Denver Academy Mustangs vs. Heritage Christian Eagles

Denver Academy hasn't had much luck against Heritage Christian recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Denver Academy Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Heritage Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Denver Academy is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against SkyView Academy on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Denver Academy was outmatched by SkyView Academy and fell 88-15. The match marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Luc Stanley was Denver Academy's leading scorer, having posted 11 points. Owen Beams held things down on the boards with five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Heritage Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They had to suffer through a 81-36 loss at the hands of Resurrection Christian. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-18.

Denver Academy now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Heritage Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-4.

Denver Academy was dealt a bruising 81-29 loss at the hands of Heritage Christian in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Thankfully for Denver Academy, Raul Bertinato (who went 8 of 9 on his way to 16 points and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
