Basketball Recap: Golden West's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Golden West needed a changed in momentum after dropping three straight games and they got it from Aniyah Venegas. The Golden West Trailblazers blew past the Fowler Redcats 62-28 on Thursday thanks in part to Venegas, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 11 rebounds. Her afternoon made it 15 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Contreras, who posted ten points. Those ten points gave her a new career-high.

The victory got Golden West back to even at 8-8. As for Fowler, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Golden West will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hanford West at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Fowler will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against Sunnyside at 6:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
