Softball Recap: Horizon Hawks vs. Pomona Panthers
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Palmer Ridge, Horizon was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Pomona Panthers with a sharp 11-1 win. With that victory, the Hawks brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.

Kaiya Barela was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Barela was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tessa Munsch, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in August of 2024. Larrissa Arvizo also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.
Horizon hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pomona struck out 12 times.
The win got Horizon back to even at 2-2. As for Pomona, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
Horizon wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 11-0 defeat against Holy Family on the 26th. As for Pomona, they have also already played their next match, a 13-0 victory against Boulder on the 28th.
