Football Recap: Schurr Piles Up the Points Against Bell Gardens

Schurr won the last time they faced Bell Gardens and things went their way on Friday too. The Spartans claimed a resounding 35-2 win over the Lancers. Considering the Spartans have won six matchups by more than 25 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Schurr's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jacob Torres, who threw for 123 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 35 yards. Alberto Chavez also helped with three scores in total.

Schurr didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Tyler Higashi and Chavez. Chavez got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Schurr, bringing their record up to 7-3. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.6 points on average over those games. As for Bell Gardens, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-3 record.

Schurr and Bell Gardens are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Spartans will head out to face off against Saugus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Schurr will need to watch out since the Centurions have now posted at least 31 points in their last four contests. As for Bell Gardens, they will host Western Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Lancers 13.9, the Fighting Lancers 12.5) so any points scored will be well earned.
