Baseball Recap: Northside Extends Winning Streak to Five

Northside won against Griffin on Friday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Northside Patriots beat the Russell County Warriors by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 8-3. The victory was nothing new for the Patriots as they're now sitting on five straight.

Cayden Clay was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jase Shehane was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Northside hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in eight consecutive matches.

Northside pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Russell County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northside will head out to face off against Mundy's Mill at 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Russell County, they will challenge Smiths Station at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
