Softball Recap: Lincoln Northeast Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Lincoln Northeast, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They blew past the Columbus Discoverers 8-0 on Wednesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-4 back in September.

Jadyn Dryer tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over 5.2 innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Haylee Ebke was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Taytum Buettgenbach also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Lincoln Northeast's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-22. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Columbus, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 14 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-24 record this season.

Lincoln Northeast wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 12-2 loss against Gretna on the 9th. Columbus does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
