Football Game Preview: Tularosa Wildcats vs. Raton Tigers + Official Tickets

The Tularosa Wildcats will square off against the Raton Tigers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Tularosa has struggled recently with five losses in a row, while Raton will arrive with four straight wins.

Tularosa's offense might be in the hot seat on Saturday considering what happened against Texico on Friday. They had to suffer through a 53-0 loss at the hands of the Wolverines.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Raton against Estancia on Friday as the team secured a 54-13 victory. Considering the Tigers have won four matchups by more than 33 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Raton's win came from a few key players Tularosa will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Cael Walton, who rushed for 138 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. He is becoming a predictor of Raton's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Luciano Castillo was in the mix too, providing the Tigers with two scores.

Raton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 246 rushing yards. They are a perfect 4-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Raton, racking up 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Castillo, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Raton's record now sits at 6-4. As for Tularosa, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.
