Basketball Game Preview: Morse Tigers vs. La Costa Canyon Mavericks

The Morse Tigers and the La Costa Canyon Mavericks will face off at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Morse is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Cathedral Catholic just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 48-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dons. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 382nd, while the Dons are ranked 82nd).

Meanwhile, La Costa Canyon ended up a good deal behind Carlsbad on Friday and lost 57-40. The Mavericks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

La Costa Canyon now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Morse, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-7.

Morse suffered a grim 69-45 defeat to La Costa Canyon in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Morse avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
