Softball Recap: Yutan-Mead's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Yutan-Mead had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Syracuse Rockets a 9-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Addi Jones was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Jersey Siske was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Yutan-Mead was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Syracuse only posted a batting average of .118.

Yutan-Mead's victory bumped their record up to 16-3. As for Syracuse, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-18.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Yutan-Mead is set to challenge their familiar foe Fort Calhoun at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Patriots 2.1, the Pioneers 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Syracuse will take on rival Logan View/Scribner-Snyder at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
