The Lovett Lions will face off against the North Springs Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Lovett hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.
Lovett lost 14-2 to Centennial on Wednesday.
Lovett saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elle Kaufmann, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Springs). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Lithonia an 18-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Spartans have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kate Lott was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in August. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season.
In other batting news, North Springs got a massive performance out of Jordan Masker, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those two hits gave Masker a new career-high. Jamie Masker was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
North Springs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .704. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Lovett's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for North Springs, their victory bumped their record up to 7-12.
North Springs' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lovett has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .467.
