The Paraclete Spirits will take on the St. Francis Golden Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Paraclete is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Cathedral just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 49-28 to the Phantoms. The Spirits were down 42-21 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Joseph Mesa and Jaden Jefferson. Jefferson had a great game and threw for 378 yards and four touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes. Meanwhile, Mesa was balling out in the loss, throwing for 293 yards and four TDs, while also rushing for 67 yards.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Francis). They blew past Bishop Alemany 38-6 on Friday. With the Golden Knights ahead 24-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Paraclete better keep an eye on Elijah Wilson. He was instrumental in St. Francis' win, rushing for 87 yards and four scores. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Mason Maddox, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.
Paraclete's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for St. Francis, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Paraclete has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 397.5 total yards per game. It's a different story for St. Francis, though, as they've been averaging only 232.4 total yards. Will Paraclete be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Golden Knights flip the script?
Paraclete came up short against St. Francis in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 39-30. Will the Spirits have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other football content.
