Softball Recap: Boulder Takes a Loss

Boulder extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 18 on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-16. They lost 15-1 to the Mountain Range Mustangs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-2 on September 9th.

Boulder saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alissa Zacharewicz, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

As for Mountain Range, with the victory, they broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-11. The contest marked their most dominant win of the season.

On Mountain Range's side, Adriana Vigil made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Vigil has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Omari Salazar Rodriguez was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs she has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Abby Judd, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Coming up, Boulder will venture away from home to face off against Legacy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Lightning have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Mountain Range, they will challenge Poudre at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Impalas have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.53 runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
