Recap: Sayre Redskins vs. Towanda Black Knights
While it was all tied up 17-17 at halftime, the Sayre Redskins were not quite the Towanda Black Knights's equal in the second half on Tuesday. Sayre fell 44-34 to Towanda. Sayre has not had much luck with Towanda recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Sayre's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Meghan Flynn, who scored 11 points along with 5 steals. Flynn is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Black, who scored 8 points along with 5 rebounds.
Sayre's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-3. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.0 points per game. As for Towanda, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Sayre will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Troy at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Troy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Thursday. As for Towanda, they will head out on the road to face off against Canton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
