Softball Recap: Clinch County's Run of Four Straight Victories Now Over

Clinch County dropped down to 12-5 on Tuesday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Lanier County Bulldogs, falling 7-1. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Panthers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Ellie Grace Griffis made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases.

As for Lanier County, they pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average this season.

On Lanier County's side, EmLee Lowery was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Lowery was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Evie Murray was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Shelby McKettrick was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Coming up, Clinch County will welcome Irwin County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season. As for Lanier County, they will face off against Valdosta at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
