Basketball Recap: Carson Comes Up Short

It was a good run, but Carson unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They were beaten by the Whitney Wildcats 69-40. While losing is never fun, the Colts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 566th, while the Wildcats are ranked 188th).

Carson lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Danaye (Dee) Lizama (Griego), who posted six points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Zoey Taylor, who earned eight points and seven rebounds.

Carson's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Whitney, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Carson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 43-31 loss against Savanna on the 23rd. As for Whitney, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-61 defeat against Kamiak on the 26th.
