Basketball Recap: New Roads Comes Up Short

New Roads was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 62-9 loss at the hands of the Geffen Academy Bruins. The Jaguars lost against the Bruins in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 46-35 score last time.

Ciahna M was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 19 boards for Geffen Academy. The game was M's fifth in a row with at least ten points.

New Roads' defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Geffen Academy, the win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

New Roads has already played their next contest, a 32-12 victory against Lennox Academy on the 1st. As for Geffen Academy, they will head out to challenge Wiseburn- Da Vinci at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Wiseburn- Da Vinci: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Geffen Academy has snatched up 11 consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
