Baseball Recap: Kennesaw Mountain Has No Trouble Against New Manchester

Kennesaw Mountain barely beat New Manchester the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Jaguar with a sharp 7-1 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Jackson Dietz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Isander Poventud was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two triples and three runs. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Jake Phelps was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Kennesaw Mountain's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-10. As for New Manchester, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-14.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kennesaw Mountain will take on Harrison at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. As for New Manchester, they will challenge Lyndon Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
