Canyon Springs and Heritage are an even 3-3-1 against one another since December of 2015, but likely not for long. The Cougars will square off against the Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

It was a proper cat-fight when Canyon Springs duked it out with Paloma Valley on Wednesday. The Cougars lost 4-0 to the Wildcats.

Meanwhile, Heritage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Valley View, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, Heritage can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 851st, while Valley View are ranked 220th).

Heritage's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15-2. As for Canyon Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7-4.

Canyon Springs got the 'W' when the teams last played two weeks ago against Heritage by a conclusive 6-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
