Softball Recap: Bear Creek Comes Up Short

Bear Creek extended their losing streak to ten on Monday, dropping them down to 3-13. They lost 13-1 to the Arvada West Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bears of the 11-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Bear Creek saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Durazzo, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

As for Arvada West, their win bumped their record up to 11-3. Considering they have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

On Arvada West's side, Morgan Farr made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. Farr was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in August of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Skarlette Arenas, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Macie Ferguson, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Bear Creek didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 defeat against Chatfield on the 25th. As for Arvada West, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 5-2 loss against Valor Christian on the 25th.
