Football Recap: Cardarius Thames' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lighthouse Private Christian Academy over Monroe Academy

Lighthouse Private Christian Academy came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Monroe Academy Volunteers, falling 43-22. While losing is never fun, the Stingrays can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 527th in Florida, while the Volunteers are ranked 240th in Alabama).

Several Stingrays players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cardarius Thames, who picked up 171 receiving yards and one touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Jackson, who threw for 226 yards and a pair of TDs.

Lighthouse Private Christian Academy's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-4. As for Monroe Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.

Lighthouse Private Christian Academy will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Sneads at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. As for Monroe Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 13-3 defeat against Wilcox Academy on the 10th.
