Basketball Recap: Ean Nance and Barack Jones Secure Win for West Cabarrus

West Cabarrus won the last time they faced South Iredell and things went their way on Friday too. The West Cabarrus Wolverines came out on top against the South Iredell Vikings by a score of 60-49. Given the Wolverines' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 238th, while the Vikings are ranked 488th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading West Cabarrus to victory were Barack Jones and Ean Nance. Jones went 9 of 19 on his way to 20 points, while Nance went 7 for 13 on his way to 15 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Camari Mccrae, who posted seven points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

West Cabarrus smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January.

The win made it two in a row for West Cabarrus and bumps their season record up to 4-4. As for South Iredell, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

West Cabarrus will take on Cox Mill in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on December 20th. West Cabarrus is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.3 points per game this season. As for South Iredell, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 72-50 defeat against North Iredell on the 17th.
