Baseball Recap: Willmar Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Willmar came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Albany Huskies as they made off with a 13-1 victory. Considering the Cardinals have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Logan Fagerlie made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jake Ellingson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Paulson, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs.

Willmar's win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Albany, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Willmar will head out to face off against St. Cloud Cathedral at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Albany, they will venture away from home to take on Milaca at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
