Recap: Mt. Diablo Red Devils vs. Miramonte Matadors

It was a good run, but the Mt. Diablo Red Devils unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 60-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Miramonte.

Despite the loss, Mt. Diablo had strong showings from Stephanie Zuniga, who scored 15 points along with three steals, and Natalie Dance, who scored 13 points. Zuniga continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mykalyn Gutierrez, who scored ten points.

Karena Eberts continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Miramonte, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 21 rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Eberts has scored at least a third of Miramonte's points. Maegan Eichenberger was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.

Mt. Diablo's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 18-4. As for Miramonte, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-8 record this season.

Mt. Diablo will head out on the road to square off against Concord at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Concord focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Monday. As for Miramonte, they will be playing at home against Acalanes at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Acalanes' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matchups.
