Soccer Game Preview: Petaluma vs. Vintage

The Petaluma Trojans will challenge the Vintage Crushers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Petaluma is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Sonoma Valley just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. Neither they nor the Dragons could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw. The result kept the Trojans happy, as they haven't lost a game since January 10th.

Meanwhile, Vintage hasn't lost a match yet, a trend which continued in their latest game on Friday. They walked away with a 4-2 win over Justin-Siena. Given the Crushers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Braves are ranked 658th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Vintage hit Justin-Siena with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Maia Goss (2), Riley Mills, and Lila Plewes.

Vintage's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-0-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 41 goals over those five games. Petaluma's draw gives them a new season record of 7-3-3.

Petaluma came up short against Vintage when the teams last played on January 3rd, falling 2-0. Can Petaluma avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
