Xavier Youngblood was his usual excellent self, rushing for 39 yards and three touchdowns, while also throwing for 155 yards and a pair of TDs. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Mivieon Franklin Ross was another key player, gaining 92 total yards and a touchdown.
Sam Houston's run defense was locked in: Burbank could only muster 3.5 yards per carry. The team can thank Germaine Carson for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sam Houston didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.6.
Sam Houston's defense didn't let Josh Garcia, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. In that department, Daron Gardner was the leader with three.
Jefferson not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since November 8, 2024 (when they won 35-7). Everything went their way against Highlands as they made off with a 34-14 win. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Owls recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Jefferson didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as John Fernandez, Julian Cervera, and Michael Bejar picked up one apiece. Aaron Garcia was another major factor on D, picking up two sacks, making 12 total tackles, and defending one pass.
The win got Sam Houston back to even at 4-4. As for Jefferson, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-5.
