Baseball Recap: Pinecrest Academy Starts Season with Victory Against Young Americans Christian

Pinecrest Academy took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. They put the hurt on the Young Americans Christian Eagles with a sharp 16-3 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Paladins also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Dominic Kellner and Charles Dodson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Kellner tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Dodson tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. At the plate, Kellner scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Dodson scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Pinecrest Academy let Liam McCavitt and Mateo Snyder run wild. McCavitt scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Snyder got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Snyder a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Anderson Proctor, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Pinecrest Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Young Americans Christian only posted an OBP of .333.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Pinecrest Academy beat Young Americans Christian by a score of 20-1 on Tuesday.
