Basketball Game Preview: Hickory Hornets vs. Greenville Trojans

Hickory and Greenville are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Hickory Hornets will head out on the road to challenge the Greenville Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hickory will bounce into Monday's game after beating Grove City, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, Hickory made off with a 38-37 win over Grove City. The Hornets didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this victory makes it their second in a row.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Greenville, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They walked away with a 37-27 win over Meadville on Monday. While the Trojans didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Greenville pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Hickory, their record is now 4-8.

Hickory ended up a good deal behind Greenville in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, losing 51-37. Can Hickory avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
