Baseball Recap: Thief River Falls Comes Up Short

Thief River Falls was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They fell 11-8 to the Aitkin Gobblers.

Thief River Falls got a good showing from Dylan Osowski, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Osowski has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bridger Wilcox and Knute Hams stepped up to the plate in a big way. Wilcox went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Hams went 3-for-4 with five RBI and one double. That double was Hams' first of the season. Beckem Johnson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

Thief River Falls' loss dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Aitkin, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 16-1.

Coming up, Thief River Falls will face off against Stephen-Argyle Central at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Aitkin, they will venture away from home to square off against Perham at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
