Recap: Conestoga Christian Cougars vs. Dayspring Christian Academy Warriors
This season hasn't been kind to the Conestoga Christian Cougars, who are still winless after their fifth game. They were dealt a 58-25 defeat at the hands of Dayspring Christian Academy on Monday. Conestoga Christian lost against Dayspring Christian Academy in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 33-30 score last time.
Despite the defeat, Conestoga Christian saw an underclassman step up: Liberty Mewhort scored nine points along with six rebounds. Mewhort also grabbed two steals for the first time this season.
Conestoga Christian's loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-5. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.6 points per game. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Conestoga Christian will challenge Lancaster County Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lancaster County Christian's defense has only allowed 28.7 points per game this season, so Conestoga Christian's offense will have their work cut out for Conestoga Christian. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Christian School of York at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
