Softball Game Preview: Calhoun Yellow Jackets vs. Heritage Generals

For the second straight game, Calhoun will face off against Heritage. The Yellow Jackets will square off against the Generals at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Calhoun has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Calhoun took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Heritage. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Yellow Jackets have posted against the Generals since September 12, 2015.

Saydi Prokop spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Maggy Abernathy, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Calhoun pushed their record up to 8-13 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Heritage, they moved to 14-8 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
