Preview: Coachella Valley Mighty Arabs vs. La Quinta Blackhawks
Coachella Valley is 1-9 against La Quinta since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Coachella Valley Mighty Arabs will finish 2023 at home by hosting the La Quinta Blackhawks at 10:30 a.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Coachella Valley's 19-9 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell 46-33 to Clark on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Coachella Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 953rd in California, while Clark is ranked 27th in Nevada).
Meanwhile, La Quinta was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 48-42 to Clark.
Coachella Valley's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for La Quinta, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.
Coachella Valley suffered a grim 48-27 defeat to La Quinta when the teams last played back in November. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of La Quinta's Audrey Tijerina, who scored 19 points along with eight steals.
