Soccer Recap: Cloverdale Comes Up Short

Cloverdale lost against Sonoma Academy on January 9th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Cloverdale Eagles lost 5-0 to the Sonoma Academy Coyotes. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 953rd, while the Coyotes are ranked 167th).

Cloverdale has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7-1 record this season. As for Sonoma Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2-2 record this season.

Cloverdale wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next contest, a 1-0 loss against Roseland University Prep on the 30th. As for Sonoma Academy, they will take on St. Helena at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Helena's last four matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
