Recap: Round Valley Mustangs vs. Willits Wolverines

After flying high against the Willits Wolverines on Friday, the Round Valley Mustangs came back down to earth. Round Valley took a 39-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Willits on Saturday. Round Valley was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Willits apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played.

Willits' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cecily Potter led the charge by scoring 12 points. Another player making a difference was Hazel Cooke, who scored 11 points.

Round Valley now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Willits, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Round Valley will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Laytonville at 4:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. As for Willits, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Mendocino at 6:30 p.m. Mendocino is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
