Dougherty is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Peach County is on a ten-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. Jayden J Miller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing six bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.4 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, Marcus Heath was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He also brought in two RBI, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Joshua Weaver, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Dougherty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .614. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Peach County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. Everything went their way against Ware County as they made off with a 12-4 win. 12 seems to be a good number for the Trojans as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Jaden Jones looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February of 2024.
On the hitting side, Xavion Childs and Zion Hudson did most of the damage at the plate: Childs scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Hudson scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those three runs gave Childs a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Scout Willingham, who scored a run while going 2-for-6.
Peach County's win bumped their record up to 23-2. As for Dougherty, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Dougherty has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 9.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Peach County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
