Softball Recap: Lincoln Southwest Extends Winning Streak to Six

Lincoln Southwest extended their winning streak to six on Thursday, bumping them up to 31-3. They came out on top against the Papillion-LaVista South Titans by a score of 7-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-1 back in September.

Maisey McCarty made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last 12 contests. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Taylor Siefken was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Raegan Brandt, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

As for Papillion-LaVista South, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-14. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Papillion-LaVista South's side, Alexa Epley was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. Kaitlyn Herd was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

As of now, neither Lincoln Southwest nor Papillion-LaVista South have any future games scheduled.
